Designed to evolve in stages over time with the growing demands of the region, ensuring sustainable growth and delivering lasting value for the community and stakeholders.
Background

Project Summary

Gascoyne Gateway Marine Complex (GGMC) is a veteran-founded, privately funded, and operated, Australian-owned public unlisted company, developing a world-class multi-user, deep-water port facility and renewables hub.

Located strategically on the North-West Cape in Western Australia, GGMC will serve a diverse range of customers, including Defence, Border Force, cruise liners, superyachts, Rare Earth and Critical Mineral projects, decommissioning of aging gas assets, large-scale renewable projects, bulk and break-bulk cargo, and regional supply-chain needs.

Situated just 10 km south of Exmouth, the facility benefits from the calm waters of the Gulf and proximity to an existing light industrial area. Founded in late 2019, the GGMC aligns with the Shire of Exmouth's strategic investment plan to foster economic diversification and growth through the development of a deep-water facility. The project has been awarded lead agency status by the Western Australian Government, recognising its significant economic benefits to the state.

GGMC is projected to create 70 full-time jobs during operations, with an additional 120 indirect jobs, thereby reducing Exmouth's reliance on seasonal tourism. The facility will accommodate existing Gulf traffic, support the National Defence Strategy and Defence Force Posture for the region, and enable the supply chain for the expansive renewable hydrogen projects planned for the Gascoyne region.

GGMC is committed to delivering generational benefits and building community capacity. With a strong focus on environmental stewardship, the complex will implement regenerative initiatives and regulations for Gulf marine traffic, championing the concept of a 'green port terminal' and setting new standards for environmental responsibility and regional decarbonisation.

Landscape & Visual Assessment

Landscape and Visual Assessment Map
*AIS data collected by Squire Maritime for 2020 revealed a highly trafficked marine environment for the Exmouth Gulf, Ningaloo Marine Park and Muiron Islands, with the above map tracking commercial vessel movements for that year, and table representing the type of vessels recorded as a percentage of commercial traffic.
